LASIK is a procedure where a laser reshapes the cornea to correct near sightedness, far sightedness and astigmatism.
We offer all laser LASIK which uses 2 types of lasers. On of the lasers makes a thin flap of the top part of the cornea. After gently lifting the flap, a second laser is used to ablate or vaporize the underlying tissue to reshape the cornea.
Most people notice significant improvement in vision a few hours to one day following the procedure. The sharpness in vision continue to improve over the next few days.
The best way to determine if you are a good candidate for surgery is to schedule a consultation with us. Per FDA guidelines you must be 18 years of age, have a stable refractive error(glass or contact lens prescription) for atleast a year. We will do various eye tests during your free consultation to measure your corneal thickness, map its shape and check your prescription to determine your candidacy.
PRK, ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens ) and CLE (Clear lens exchange) are other great options.
PRK stands for photorefractive keratectomy.
After numbing the eyes the superficial thin later of the cornea is removed. A laser is then used to reshape the cornea and correct nearsightedness, far sightedness and astigmatism. The vision correction and results are almost the same as LASIK. Some people may not qualify for Lasik due to thin cornea, high prescription or unusual corneal shape. PRK could be a more suitable option in such cases.
